On 02 Jan 2017 at approximately 1130 hours, Rifle Man Bhupal Singh as part of the Ghatak Platoon established a harbor in General Area Khuntak (Manipur) for carrying out search operations. The party came under heavy terrorist fire while establishing the harbor Rifle Man Bhupal Singh was hit by bullets from close range, and he succumbed to his injuries while being evacuated.
