On 22 May 2016, Rifle Man Pawan Kumar was part of Quick Reaction Team (QRT) which was moving to the Battalion Head Quarter from General Area Shiv Mandir. At approximately 1140 hrs, the vehicles of the Quick Reaction Team came under heavy fire of terrorists including Lathode, AK & LMG. Rifle Man Pawan Kumar displayed initiative and retaliated forcing the terrorists to retreat. In the exchange of fire Rifle Man Pawan Kumar was grievously injured and attained martyrdom.
