On 22 May 2016, Rifle Man Mahesh Singh was part of Quick Reaction Team which was moving to the Battalion Head Quarter from General Area Shiv Mandir. At approximately 1140 hr, the vehicles of the Quick Reaction Team came under heavy fire of terrorists including Lathode, AK & LMG. Rifle Man Mahesh Singh displayed initiative and retaliated forcing the terrorists to retreat. In the exchange of fire Rifle Man Mahesh Singh was grievously injured and attained martyrdom.
