On 22 May 2016, Sub Inspector Baldev Kumar was part of Quick Reaction Team which was moving to the Battalion HQ from General Area Shiv Mandir Area. At approximately 1140 hr, the vehicles of the Quick Reaction Team came under heavy fire of terrorists including Lathode, AK & LMG. The Quick Reaction Team under Sub Inspector Baldev Kumar retaliated and forced the terrorists to retreat. In the exchange of fire Sub Inspector Baldev Kumar was grievously injured and attained martyrdom
