Troops of B/C/E 208 CoBRA under overall command of Shri Amit Sangwan, 2I/C left from ops base Kistaram and Palodi on 30-12-21 at 1530 hrs in general area of Palachalama, Gattapad, Muriyapara under PS-Kistaram. Troops of B/208 were searching general area of Palachalama village while C/208 was searching general area of village Gattapad. While returning from the target area at around 1223 hrs, troops of C/208 and QAT were ambushed followed by heavy firing and IED blast between village Palachalama and Gattapad. Troops of C/208 and QAT retaliated valiantly with heavy fire and broke the ambush laid by the naxals. The exchange of fire lasted for at least 1 hours. 5-6 naxals were reportedly killed by quick and fearless action of the troops. During this exchange of fire, No. 175071651 CT/GD Varinder Singh, while fighting valiantly, got bullet injury in left side of the chest. He was immidiatly air lifted from Kistaram, base helipad but succumbed to his injuries and attained Martyrdom on 31/12/2021. Maintaining the highest tradition of CRPF CT/GD Varinder Singh displayed raw courage and made the supreme sacrifice in service of the Nation.
