Based on input from a reliable source, about presence of insurgents, a patrolling party was launched by 19 Assam Rifles in area of Company Operating Base, Longvi. They were fired upon by insurgents and exchange of fire ensued. During the encounter, Rifleman (General Duty) Avatar Chakma without prejudice to his own safety continued to fight valiantly wherein he succumbed due to multiple bullet injuries thereby making supreme sacrifice for the nation.
