A CRPF bus carrying Head Constable Vir Singh alongwith others on board, was returning from duty on June 25, 2016, when it was attacked by 02 Lashkar-e-Tayyaba militants at Farishtabal under police station Pampore, District Awantipora (J&K), which was retaliated fiercely by the troops. Despite sustaining bullet injuries in initial firing, Head Constable Vir Singh fought valiantly against the militants. He later succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom.
