On 30.11.2020, a 24 hours Special ambush of 59 Bn BSF (deployed on LC under Army Ops control of 120 Infantry Brigade in J and K) led by No. 183102654 SI(GD) Paotinsat Guite was deployed along anticipated ingress routes of the terrorists at 301700 hrs, in highly sensitive Damaikas Bowl in view of impending Ops link in Bump area on 01.12.2020. Special ambush party received heavy volume of fire from close proximity of Ambush site from the direction of Damaikas Nallah and Pak Post across the LC. SI(GD) Paotinsat Guite, the Party Comdr, Led the retaliatory fire by his Party to Counter the fire assault by militants/Pak troops. During the exchange of fire, one bullet of Pak Army/militants hit SI(GD) Paotinsat Guite on his left arm pit and exited from back side of right shoulder tearing the strip of bullet proof jacket. SI(GD) Paotinsat Guite kept on firing and controlling the fire assault of his party till he fell down. In this ensuing fire fighting, 03 militants of HM (Hizbul Mujahiddin) were killed. The Amush party and reinforcement from Coy HQ evacuated injured SI(GD) Paotinsat Guite to FDL 3 OP amid heavy firing from enemy post and militants. After thorough examination at FDL 3 OP, RMO 14 Punjab declared him dead at 1015 hrs on 01.12.2020. SI(GD) Paotinsat Guite martyred himself on the line of duty at LOC by terrorists/enemy firing exhibiting conspicuous gallantry and utmost devotion to duty.
