As per Int. received , a joint ops was planned involving troops of B/208 along with 02 section of 241 Bn Bastriya Bn under command Shri Vikash Kumar, DC, E/208 under command Shri Amit Sankholia, AC and troops of 212 Bn from Kistaram palodi in the ops. While moving towards Kasaram Nallah a suspected IED was detected. Shri Vikash Kumar, DC marked GR and placed team to cover and observe the surrounding. After placing team Shri Vikash Kumar, DC marched towards suspected IED site along with BDDS team. In the process of defusing/destroying IED Shri Vikash Kumar ordered all to take position properly and he himself took position behind the boulder. While taking cover a different IED blasted beneath Shri Vikash Kumar, DC. Despite sustaining major injury in the blast Shri Vikash Kuamr, DC ensured that all other injury person ware safely evacuated to Kistaram field surgical unit. Shri Vikash Kumar, Dy. Comdt, sustained major IED blast injuries on both legs and both hands. Officer was immediately shifted to Raipur through Chopper. While under medical treatment at Ramkrishna Care Hospital, Raipur, he took his last breath on 13/12/2020 at 23.56 Hrs. As per the highest tradition of CRPF Shri. Vikash Kumar, Dy. Comdt displayed raw courage and made supreme sacrifice in service of the Nation.
