Constable Apurba Deka alongwith his party was on Search and Destroy Operation at Ganjoi & Bandhu Bigha under police station Deo, District Aurangabad (Bihar) when an encounter broke out between them and Maoists on June 19, 2016. During the Operation, he fought valiantly. However, in an act of desperation, Maoists blasted a series of Improvised Explosive Device in which Constable Apurba Deka suffered serious injuries and made supreme sacrifice for the Nation.
