On 21 Oct 2020 at around 0500 hrs based on hard input a search Operation was launched in general area Thincha, District Tirap of Arunachal Pradesh. The input was with regard to the presence of approx 15-20 NSCN (IM) cadres in general area Thincha. On 21 Oct 2020 at 0745 hrs No G/5018057M Rifleman (General Duty) Babu Rao Bongu who was the leading scout came under fire and received Gun Shot Wound during exchange of fire between own column and unknown undergrounds. Regimental Medical Officer administered first aid to the individual and later evacuated him to Unit Hospital at Battalion Headquarter. The RMO efforts to revive the individual failed, and the individual made supreme sacrifice in service of the Nation in the best traditions of the Force.
