On 4/5/2020 two sections of 92 BN CRPF under command Narendra Singh were deployed at Wangam crossing, U/PS-Karalgund, PD-Handwara, Dist-Kupwara for Covid-19 lockdown enforcement from 0645 hrs. At about 1725 hrs. Unidentified terrorists came through dence apple orchard and fired indiscriminately on the deployed troops. CRPF party retaliated the fire and the fire continued for 15 -20 minutes. Effective retaliation forced the militant to retreat and they escaped taking advantage of dense vegetation. During this militant attack CT/ GD Santosh Kumar Mishra was fatally wounded and attained martyrdom in the line of his duty.
