On 12/06/2019, troops of 116 Bn was deployed for Naka/CI (Ops) duty. At about 1650 hrs, during withdrawal at K.P. Road (Chhee Gali), 02 militants suddenly approached near the troops on a bike and started firing upon troops followed by hurling grenades towards the troops. F/No. 901180235 ASI/GD Ramesh Kumar retaliated and took on the militants. During the encounter with Fidayeens, he came into impact of heavy firing and got extensive injuries. Thus, he laid down his life in the line of duty and attained martyrdom.
