| Brief of Incident: |
On 13 Feb 2019, an operation was conducted in area of BOP Madanghat (West Bengal) from BP No. 53/7s to BP No.50/2s along Indo-Bangladesh International Border by the BSF party from BOP Madanghat. The party apprehended 12 cattle smugglers including 02 Bangladeshi besides seizure of 74 cattle. During the whole Ops, No. 071090614 Constable Debashis Roy Sarkar displayed highest level of bravery, intiative and team spirit. He chased the smugglers, who were equipped with cleaver (Dahs), in the water and confronted them despite being outnumbered. During the scuffle, he was over powered and drowned to death by the smugglers. No. 071090614 Constable Debashis Roy Sarkar showed his exemplary professionalism and fought bravely without caring for his life and attained martyrdom in the line of duty.
