No.041630026 Late Constable Rajendra Gautam joined BSF on 30 January 2004 He joined 9 Bn NDRF on 16 May 2013 Being an excellent swimmer and professional rescuer he was deployed in Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj UP On 19 February 2019 an old pilgrim started to flow in the swift currents of river He promptly jumped into the river and saved him. During this, he sustained serious injury likely hit by a wooden bulley pegged in the river. He was provided first aid at local Hospital and as per MRI report he got serious cervical injury fractured in C3 C4 C5 and evacuated to Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi. On 20 February 2019, he was undergone surgery. On 22 February 2019 his condition started to deteriorating and even after all efforts of the doctors life of the individual could not be saved He laid down his life during active duty to the nation and he indeed lived up to the motto of NDRF SAVING LIVES AND BEYOND. On 24 February 2019 Honble PM Shri Narendra Modi remembered the martyrdom of the said individual during his speech at Kumbh Mela Prayagraj and paid tribute to his supreme sacrifice.
