On March 11, 2017, Constable Suresh Kumar, along with his party, was on a Road Search Operation at Bheji-Kottacheruvu axis, Police Station Bheji, District Sukma (Chhattisgarh) Maoists triggered Improvised Explosive Device blasts and opened heavy fire on the troops. Constable Suresh Kumar sustained serious injuries and succumbed to them, attaining martyrdom.
