42nd Bn SSB under adhoc 11th Bn SSB is deployed for urban and Panchayat Election duties in Jammu and Kashmir. On 21/10/2018 at around 2030 hrs, militants attacked 180 Bn CRPF Camp. Vijay Kumar of 42nd Bn, SSB was performing guard duty when the militants attacked the camp, during which, Vijay Kumar sustained injuries in the head. He was immediately evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, B B Cantt Srinagar, but he succumbed to his injuries and was declared brought dead
