On 12 June 2018 at about 2140 hrs, Pak Rangers opened heavy firing on BSF vehicle carrying operational defence material in AOR of BOP Chamliyal on Indo Pakistan border in Jammu region in which 02 BSF personnel sustained serious bullet injuries. SI(GD) Rajneesh Kumar actively assisted his Coy Comdr, Shri Jitendra Singh, AC and moved tactically alongwith 01 SO and 04 ORs for evacuation of injured BSF personnel amidst heavy cross border firing. Pak Rangers again opened heavy firing and shelling on the evacuation party and mortar bombs exploded very close to SI (GD) Rajneesh Kumar. He sustained grievous splinter injuries and attained martyrdom on 13 June 2018 at about 0300 hrs while enroute to 166 MH Satwari,Jammu
