| Brief of Incident: |
On 14th May 2018 at about 2330 hrs, Naka party of BOP Manguchak, 173 Bn BSF including Const Devendra Singh noticed movements of suspected militants on the Pakistan side near Boundary Pillar (BP) No. 138. Const Devendra Singh fired 3-4 burst of 7.62 mm LMG towards the militants. At about 142400 hrs, BSF troops fired upon militants but Pak troops resorted to heavy volume of fire on BSF posts to cover the militants. Const Devendra Singh effectively retaliated to firing but unfortunately a bullet hit his left eye at about 150025 hrs. He was immediately evacuated to Military Hospital (MH 166) Satwari, Jammu where he attained martyrdom at 150410 hrs.
