On 4th April 2018, B/164 and F/164 were deployed under command of No. 095350891 Insp/GD Tribhuwan Singh and No. 095300572 Insp/GD Shyam Sundar Bishnoi respectively under overall command of Shri Kailash Chand Ramola, 2-I/C in Anantnag town as special deployment due to Bandh call by JRL on account of Shopian encounter. Around 1800 hrs the two coys were relieved from deployment and marched back to Unit HQR at Kokernag and F/164 Coy location at Larnoo in Kokernag in a convoy of five vehicles which included BP and Semi BP Vehicle. The troops convoy was being given bound by bound clearance by two units Intelligence personnel on motorcycle who were leading ahead of the convoy. At around 1850 hrs when the troops were passing through Hiller village and were in the midst of build up area including shops etc, a group of young boys hiding in the by lanes on either side all of sudden indulged in heavy stone pelting on the convey vehicles, resultantly, No. 065345232 CT/GD Reyaz Ahmad Zarger and No. 973361856 HC/GD Nisar Ahmad Wani of Intelligence Cell who were in the lead got badly hurt in stone pelting from both sides. As a result of which, CT/GD Reyaz Ahmad Zarger and HC/GD Nisar Ahmad Wani sustained serious injuries and laying down their lives in the line of duty.
