On 24th Jan 2018, Ambush Cum Patrol (ACP) Party from BOP Durganagar (WB) consisting of Party Comdr and 06 ORs including Constable Arvind Kumar were detailed for 1st shift ACP duty between Border Pillar (BP) No. 959/3-S to 960/6-S w.e.f. 1730 hrs to 2359 hrs. At about 2230 hrs, some unidentified anti-national elements/smugglers fired on ambush cum patrol party in which Constable Arvind Kumar was hit by gunshot in the chest and achieved martyrdom on the spot.
