| Brief of Incident: |
On 19th Jan 2018 HC(GD) Jagpal Singh was deployed at BOP Chhiliyari. At about 1120 hours Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on our Posts which was retaliated by own troops. During exchange of fire at 1325 hrs one 82 mm Mortar Bomb fired by Pak hit BOP Chhiliyari in between Bundh and Barrack. One of the splinters pierced through window panes and hit HC Jagpal Singh at his right thigh and he got severely injured. After providing first aid, he was immediately evacuated to Govt. Hospital Samba where the Doctor on duty declared him brought dead due to excessive bleeding at 191352 hrs. HC/GD Jagpal Singh attained martyrdom at the altar of duty.
