Head Constable Premdas Ramdas Mendhe, along with other personnel, was on Road Search Operation Bheji-Kottacheruvu axis, police station Bheji, District Sukma (Chhattisgarh) on March 11, 2017 Maoists triggered Improvised Explosive Device blasts and opened heavy fire on troops. Head Constable Premdas Ramdas Mendhe sustained serious injuries and succumbed to them laying down his life for the Nation.
