G/5008469A Rifleman (General Duty) Jaiprakash Oraon was part of Road Opening Party which was conducting Road Opening in General Area Sajik Tampak, Manipur. At approximately 0530hrs on 15 Nov 2017, on reaching SIKH LI Mor, Sajik Tampak, the column came under heavy fire from an insurgent group in which Rifleman (General Duty) Jaiprakash Oraon sustained multiple splinter injuries on his chest. In spite of being grievously injured, he continued to fire at the insurgents and neutralized one insurgent and injured another before attaining martyrdom. The gallant action of the Rifleman (General Duty) Jaiprakash Oraon helped in saving lives of other members of the Road Opening Party column. Rifleman (General Duty) Jaiprakash Oraon made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the Nation in the best traditions of the Force.rn
