Head Constable Riyaz Ahmad Rather of 181 Bn, CRPF was deployed for Law and Order duty Near Bhatpora, U/PS Magam, Distt. Budgam (J&K). On 14/08/2017 unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade towards the troops which blasted near to them. HC/GD Riyaz Ahmad Rather sustained serious injuries in the grenade blast. He was immediately evacuated to 92 Base Hospital and later shifted to SKIMS, Soura, Bemina, Srinagar where he breathed his last during treatment on 16/08/2017. He sacrificed his life at the altar of duty in the service of the Nation.
